The GM UTC offers an alternative educational route at age 14 (Year 10) and 16 (Year 12) for students who wish to follow a more technical path than schools currently offer. We are sponsored by the University of Bolton and specialise in engineering, particularly engineering for a sustainable future. The GM UTC is responding to the challenges faced by employers in recruiting highly skilled engineers and to young people who want to start their engineering career.

Our UTC builds on the engineering heritage of Greater Manchester and provides young people with:

A curriculum developed in partnership with regional and national employers
Exposure to career opportunities with our employer sponsors and partners
A combination of core and technical studies, ensuring a mix of academic and vocational skills are developed

State of the art accommodation and facilities to support technical learning
A business-like environment and extended hours, to prepare students for their future employment
A range of extra-curricular enrichment activities to broaden students’ skills and improve future employability
A world class education that will enable our students to compete with the best in the world and access top universities and sought after apprenticeships.
